SEASIDE, Ca., October 31, 2019 – California State University, Monterey Bay’s (ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø) Institute for Innovation and Economic Development (iiED) is set to host the 8th annual Startup Hackathon at ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø’s University Center from Nov. 1-3, 2019. This year’s theme is “Smart Cities: Build tech to make our communities smarter and safer.”

SEASIDE, Calif., October 24, 2019 – California State University, Monterey Bay (ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø) will host a series of Dia de Los Muertos events on Friday, November 1, 2019. The events, free and open to the public, will be offered on ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø's main campus and at ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø's Center for Arts and Culture located at ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø at Salinas City Center.

SEASIDE, Calif., October 23, 2019 – California State University, Monterey Bay (ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø) welcomed the Honorable Consul General Alejandra Maria Gabriela Bologna from the Mexican Consulate in San Jose to campus this week to learn about the current projects and partnerships ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø has in Mexico.

Under White’s tenure CSU expanded student access and success with enrollment and graduation rates reaching all-time highs.

SEASIDE, Ca., October 15, 2019 – California State University Monterey Bay (ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø) has been selected to receive funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) to help fund a new virtual startup incubator designed to serve entrepreneurs in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties.

SEASIDE, Ca., October 8, 2019 – California State University Monterey Bay (ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø) has been selected to receive funding under the U.S. Department of Education’s Teacher Quality Partnership (TQP) program in the amount of $4,849,320; $2.2M of which will go directly to student scholarships.

In the early 1990s, Monterey County faced a potential economic calamity. The impending closure of Fort Ord put tens of thousands of private-sector jobs at risk, threatening to slash tax revenues and the budgets of schools and government agencies.

SEASIDE, Ca., September 19, 2019 – California State University, Monterey Bay (ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø) has received a grant from the Hospice Giving Foundation in the amount of $60,000 to fund a regional palliative care study. The feasibility study, led by ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø Department of Nursing chair and associate professor Alyssa Erikson, will plan how best to offer palliative care education in Monterey County.

SEASIDE, Calif., September 16, 2019 – ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø senior Selena Velasquez has received the 2019 California State University (CSU) Trustees’ Award for Outstanding Achievement, the CSU’s highest recognition of student achievement. Velasquez is one of 23 awardees, one from each campus in the CSU, who was publicly recognized during a CSU Board of Trustees meeting on September 24-25, 2019.
